Today we woke up early and went down to where our tour guide was. Then we went to Phong Nha which is the area where Paradise Cave is located. Our guide also told us many facts about Phong Nha including that the area is 95% catholic. Paradise Cave is the largest dry cave in Asia. The cave is 31.4 kilometers long but we only walked 1.5 kilometers. In the cave there were many huge ornate stalactites and stalagmites, some that looked like waterfalls. Afterwards we ate lunch and kayaked to the entrance of Dark Cave. The mouth of the cave was huge compared to the mouth of Paradise Cave. Once everybody made it to the dock we swam over to the entrance. Most of the cave didn’t have a pathway so we had to squeeze through narrow caverns and swim through open areas with our headlights to the mud pit. When we made it back out we kayaked back to a swimming area with ziplines, water slides, and obstacle courses into the water. Then swam for a while before driving home. After we took showers Dad and I walked down to a small market with street vendors selling durian. Durian is a foul-smelling yet delicious fruit that grows in large pokey bulbs. We also got some cotton candy for Sadie. Then dad took Sadie and me to the fitness center to try the treadmills and other workout equipment. Once we were done we got dinner, packed for our trip from Dong Hoi to Ho Chi Minh City, and went to bed.
