Today was our last day in Vassenden so the kids spent most of the morning jumping on the trampoline. This lake house was spectacular. Hands-down the nicest place we will be over the course of the full adventure.
We drove to Hellesylt and boarded the ferry through the most beautiful fjord in all of Norway (at least according to the guidebooks and UNESCO), the Geirangerfjord, and rode the ferry to Geiranger and back. Jessie keeps saying that Norway is the most photogenic country in the world and I have to agree. The drive to the fjord was breathtaking (except for the endless miles of tunnels through mountains) and the fjord was amazing.
We then drove to our next Airbnb…a house on another fjord for just one night. This feels the most “authentic” place we have stayed. We are in an old farmhouse with a barn out the window. Unlike every other rental, there does not appear to be a single item from Ikea.
Tomorrow we are heading into a national forest to a cabin at a campsite with no wifi…so this is probably our last online post until Friday. To make up for our silence, I have pre-made a post that will go up on Wednesday showcasing some of the funny signs we have encountered over the past month or so. I will keep adding to the gallery as we find more…but for now it is a sneak peek at some of our favorites to tide you over until we are back online Friday night.
