We got to Bergen last night (this morning?) after midnight and it was after 2:00am before we found our beds…so today was a bit of a lazy day. It is also a dramatic shift from Split, where we were baked alive and never saw a cloud, to rainy grey cold Norway. Bergen seems a lot like Seattle…just a continual misty rain all the time every day. That said, the results are lots of very happy green plants!
We walked to the grocery store TWO times today. On the first outing, we bought all sorts of snacks we have never seen back home, including “fried chicken” chips. They looked pretty questionable, but we tried them anyway. They turned out to be great! Not chicken flavored as feared, but rather just shaped like a chicken leg with seasoning you might put on chicken. They had a very satisfying crunch and shape…kind of like “bugles” if you have ever had those.
Other than that, we mostly napped and watched Netflix and took a brief walk down to the nearby pier to see the boats (and let Ashton look for fish…but the sun was not out so the water was too dark).
Tomorrow we have a bunch planned…so more to come!
