Today in the morning we woke up early in the morning and packed the car and drove 2 and a half hours to the Plitvice Lake National Park Waterfalls. The Plitvice Waterfalls are a connected river of different lakes at different elevations, they pour one by one to the next lake to the next waterfall to the next lake to the next waterfall all down to a river that makes its way eventually to the ocean. There are like 9 different lakes and to get all the way to the top lake it would take 8 hours. We started at the bottom overlooking a very large waterfall that was 255 feet tall on a giant cliff. There were other large waterfalls surrounding the giant one on the same cliff. Under the cliff, there was the first lake which compared to the biggest lake was tiny but it was still very big. We walked down the hill to the first lake and watched over the water at the waterfalls. There were lots of large fish and pretty plants along the boardwalks and in the water. Then we walked up to the next lake which was a little bigger than the first one but still small. It had smaller waterfalls but it had lots more waterfalls than the first one and had less algae growing on the rocks. It had some benches so we ate lunch and snacks. Then we walked up to the big lake but still not the giant lake while looking at the view over the cliffs that they made the stairs on, the stairs also had lookouts on them. Then we made it to the big lake and took a boat across to another dock. Then we took a smaller boat across a small patch of the lake to the other side. After we hiked for about 10 minutes to a bus that took us back to where we started. Then we took the car back to our apartment and had dinner at a burger place.
P.S. The title today was Jessie’s description of the setup at the park. It was highly organized with nice boardwalks and truly massive crowds all shuffling along as if in Disney…except it was natural rather than fake.
