The two descriptions from Sadie and Ashton were distinctly different today…so while it is officially “Ashton’s day” to post…I thought they both should be here:

Today we went to the travertine pools at Pamukkale after we woke up. To get to the travertine pools we had to take a 3 hour trip, then to get back we had to take another 3 hour trip. First when we got to the place that google maps had told us to go it seemed weird to me since it looked like a different tourist destination because it was all ruins of an old town where you could walk or take a golf cart across a path to see all of the ruins. My parents said that even if it wasn’t what we drove out to do, it would still be a fun thing to do. After we did the guided golf cart tour through the ruins we found out that the tour led us to the hot springs so we got lunch and then went to the travertine pools. At the pools, we got to see a great view of the mountains and hills in the distance but we also got to see all of the beautiful marble. The marble that was in the springs was very warm but most of it seemed unsanitary and even some of it wasn’t flowing so instead we found a stream of water that went downhill under the pools. In the stream, I tried to make a dam in it to cause the water to go into a pool that didn’t have much water in it and my sister just lay down in the stream. Once we were finished we took a shuttle bus to the exit of the path.

Today was my favorite day so far. This morning we all got in the car to go on a small road trip to the Pamukkale travertine pools. The trip was 3 hours there and 3 hours back. Now you might be thinking, “Sadie, if you spent three hours in a car why is this your favorite day?” Well that’s because of how beautiful the travertine pools were. When you looked out it was like you were looking out at the entire world. I can’t even begin to explain how beautiful it is. It’s like small pools on this large white open space that you could walk around in. There was also a small stream flowing through the side of it that you could go in and it was kind of fun just to sit in it and look out at the pretty view.
Pamukkale Ruins
We were supposed to go only for the travertine pools but it turns out that they also had some cool ruins that we could look at. We got a golf cart to take us to all the cool places in the ruins. Then we went and ate lunch near the travertine. I got a cheeseburger and a Sprite.
Dinner
After we drove the 3 hours back to our house we went to the grocery store to buy some snacks for tomorrow. Then we went to a fancy restaurant for dinner. The people there are very nice and it’s right up on the water so we got to see the beautiful sunset. I got fettuccine alfredo and for dessert they gave us a watermelon, apricots, plums, and these pastries that kind of tasted like honey.
